On July 14, the House and Senate enacted legislation (see S. 2985, as amended) to extend certain COVID-related amendments to the Open Meeting Law, as modified by Chapter 22 of the Acts of 2022, permitting remote meetings and participation until March 31, 2023, such relief otherwise set to expire as of midnight on July 15, 2022.  This legislation has been laid before the Governor for signature, and includes an emergency preamble thereby giving immediate affect to these changes upon his approval.

Until such time that this legislation is signed into law, we refer you to our eUpdate dated as of July 13, 2022 here which provides an overview of the practical issues that all public bodies face upon expiration of the temporary relief measures.
